Baby Steps Toward Sanity

Interesting to see what different states are doing on the gun control issue. It will also be interesting to see how much the effort intensifies after the next mass shooting. Or the first episode where a gun owner is overwhelmed by his own paranoia and goes on a rampage.

What your cartoon demonstrates is the effectiveness of our push back. Americans love guns and gun ownership and the 2nd Amendment. We've seen authentic tyranny not only in Europe and Asia but right here at home. After all, just a few years ago blacks were not only prevented from owning guns, but prevented from sitting in the front of buses, eating at lunch counters, voting, buying property all under the color of law.

After all, its hard to stop a mob of KKK from burning a cross in your yard without a fire arm with a lot of rounds in it. That must be why the KKK was America's first gun control group.

Jim, you are a good guy, but you simply are not using logic on this issue, my friend.

Look at the cities with the strictest gun laws. They also have the highest gun death rates.

All your well-intentioned gun laws are going to do is disarm the law abiding citizens. Nothing more. It certainly won't make a difference with mass killings.

Not one gun law proposed so far would have changed a single thing regarding that idiot killing those people in Connecticut. Since that is the case, why do you insist that we still need more laws? It certainly isn't to save more lives. It must be about control, I assume.

TP- I will never believe law abiding citizens need the kind of firepower used in Connecticut.

You have your vision of what kind of country this should be and I have mine. I want to live in a country that's not obsessed with guns and has a low amount of gun violence. We know it's possible because there are so many first world countries that fall into that category.

Two words. Hurricane Katrina. Two more words. L.A. Riots. Two more. Texas Boarder.

But really, with all your gun fighting experience please educate me on a better weapons system to defend yourself than an AR 15?

We know it's possible because there are so many first world countries that fall into that category.

You mean like Mexico, which has super strict gun control.

Mexico might claim to have super strict gun control, just like they might claim not to have a drug gang problem. Obviously, neither is a true fact.

Here's a realistic comparison:

Mexico has some of the strictest gun control laws on the books of any country. And yet -shocking I know- it makes zero difference to criminals who have them.

The only people who are disarmed in Mexico are the law abiding citizens. Gun control in this country will be IDENTICAL to Mexico.
