Boy, the Romney folks are busy sending out messages that our current president is black, different and unqualified to lead the country. Wonder what they'll be saying about him in October?

I'm always amazed when I hear people say the Founding Fathers wouldn't have a problem with people being able to purchase magazines that hold a hundred rounds. Why stop there? I want a shoulder held stinger missile. As far as I'm concerned, they'd be cool with that too.

I wonder sometimes if there is any amount of carnage that will make the pro-gun lobby stop and consider any small, reasonable changes in our laws. We keep an eye on people who purchase large amounts of fertilizer. We keep an eye on people who photograph bridges. James Holmes purchased over 6,000 rounds of ammunition...we said no problem, that's perfectly legal, you go right ahead and do what you want with it.

It will be interesting to see how seniors vote once they really understand that Romney and Ryan want them to pay for millionaires' tax cuts.

I have to say I was pretty shocked when I saw this quote. I don't know if it says more about McCain being out of touch or Romney's potential for self-destruction.

The bad news: CEOs who hate Obama are hoarding cash in an effort to remove him from office. The good news: When he gets re-elected, they'll no longer be able to use the "uncertainty" excuse. I predict the economy will get a big boost and the markets will soar.

Ah,that darn law of unintended consequences! We sacrifice over four thousand American lives, who knows how many Iraqi lives and a gazillion dollars and guess what...we helped create one of Iran's closest allies.

Mitt's whole campaign is built on what he accomplished working in private business. If that's true, he needs to be forthcoming about what really happened during his tenure at Bain and how long that tenure actually was. And he also needs to be honest about why he has secret overseas bank accounts.

I won't be the least bit surprised when I hear about some paranoid schizophrenic person murdering federal employees in Maine. And we can thank their idiot governor.

This is an awesome quote: "I feel like a broken record, but some truths bear repeating. Only in America could a Democratic president pass Mitt Romney’s health plan and fund it partly through John McCain’s best idea from the last campaign (taxing some employer-provided plans) and be branded a “socialist.”
The GOP is having trouble gaining traction with blacks, Latinos, gays and single women. They better figure out how to keep all the old white people alive forever if they want to stay in power...

There's just something especially nasty about conservative female politicians who lack sympathy for other women. I don't think Haley would think it was a "distraction" if she was the one being abused or raped.

The Fourth of July is a conflicted holiday for me these days. When I was a kid I was completely confident this was the greatest country on the planet. Now I'm not so sure...and actually think maybe our national superiority complex has prevented us from making some crucial changes over the years. Like they say, isn't the first step toward solving a problem admitting you have one?

I believe that future generations will look back at us and shake their heads in wonder...how could we deny the climate was changing and not do something about it?

Does anyone else have this problem? No matter what subject Mitch McConnell is supposed to be talking about, all I can hear is him saying his main goal is making sure Obama is a one-term president.

I thought this was an interesting article. It talks about how our red state/blue state divide is just the latest battle in a values war that has existed more or less since we broke away from England.
