Maybe the Best Deal is No Deal

I'm starting to think maybe we should just go over the fiscal cliff. We know tax revenues would be increased and spending cuts would be enacted. If we're ever going to hope to make any progress on getting the deficit under control those are the two things that need to happen.

For the sake of the country, yes. For my personal finances, this would be a disaster.

Jim, you are late on reading your internal DNC memo evidently. This was the strategy for the Democrats all along. They get the huge tax increase on everybody, they get to slash the military to unsafe levels, and they can have the media report that it is all the Republicans fault. I was saying this way back in October or November. I am hardly suprised that my prediction has come to fruition. Welcome to the next OBAMA recession and economic collapse that will be forthcoming accordingly.

Let me ask you something, TP...do you believe we can continue to support 45.7 percent of the world's military spending? I don't.

If we're ever going to make headway reducing the deficit it won't be by stalling the recovery or throwing it in reverse.

Let's say I show you someone working for minimum wage and tell you she really, really wants to get rich. Then I ask for your advice to her on how to go about doing that. Would you suggest ways she could increase her income, invest her money, maybe, or just tell her to reduce her already modest spending?

The fact is, we can do some things that will grow our economy, increase revenues and make it possible to pay down the debt. None of them hinge on cutting the budget now, when too many people are out of work and dependent on government assistance of one kind or another.

Put the horse before the cart and you can go places. Do the opposite and you can expect problems.

I say lets go over. That way Paine and i get nearly everything we want. Dont worry about the military Paine. We will be attacked and the mideast will be in chaos within months. Then americans will scream for a military spending deal and we wont hear jim cry about being world police anymore. And everyone will pay the taxes and will demand cuts and democrats will have to agree to tax reform to get them. Its awesome. Bring on the cliff baby!

BTW there is certainly 10% of DOD's budget that could stand cutting, like personal assistants for Generals, massive numbers of gulf courses, cost plus contracts for the gluttonous contractors to start with.

Tell Israel to pay their own damn way, no free money for them, Egypt also.

Cut back on some bases we do not need like in Germany (keep Reine Main), the USSR surrendered in 1991 if I remember right. Hand NATO off to the Europeans, and let them foot the bill.

Heck that alone would save closer to 20% .

Tell the Chinese to pay the costs of patrolling the Persian Gulf as they get much more oil from it then we do. Japan too, Korea can add their share.

Quit try to control the middle east, and we wouldn't need such a large military. Heck the Saudis have billions let them hire Black Water or what ever they are callin' it now a days, and pay our bills like they did for Desert Storm.

Tell the NEO-CONs to STFU, they have been wrong for over a decade.

We have been at it since we over threw a democratically elected government in Iran in 1954, same time the right wing was instigating the war in Vietnam when the french threw ion the towel.

their entire world view is screwed up; and delusional, doesn't work, but the clowns for some reason always double down on more war, and more blood money for contractors, like our resident petulant children have done here.

Come home and restore the USA, it's infrastructure and people for the next decade, the economy will heal, people will have jobs, America will improve.

The neocons can blow themselves and cry baby right wingers can sit on it. They had the last 30 years their way, and screwed most everything in sight up, lets try something different,

Because the definition of insanity is what they prescribe;

Trying the same damn thing over and over, but claiming it will turn out different this time.

Iraq turned out like Vietnam, with us withdrawing when we could no longer control the country, wasted lives and money for a right wing pipe dream that never would work, cause the people in those countries do not want us ruining their lives any more then we wanted the British ruining ours in 1776 ......

PS: tell Israel until they end their apartheid regime aka the Palestinians,

They are on their own.

Oh we're back in kindergarten again.

We're going to cut a hell of a lot more than that in a few days.

Your cockamamie ideas won't heal the economy. Dead men don't do commerce. Your hair-brained scheme would turn this country into a nuclear crater.

BULL

It would stop us from spending more then the next ten countries combines on a war machine, mostly protecting foreigners, who have more money to spend than we do, and are much closer to the areas, so unless they see the need to put their skin in the game, we shouldn't.

The Department of Defense spends most of its money to protect other nations, including those that are populous and prosperous. All together, the Europeans have a larger GDP and population than America and ten times the GDP and three times the population of Russia. But we still foot the majority of the bill for NATO,

WHY?

South Korea has 40 times the GDP and twice the population of North Korea. Why is the U.S. taxpayer still paying for their protection, 67 years after World War II ended?

They need to start using their budget surpluses instead of asking the UIS taxpayer to foot the bill for their defense.

The American navy is equivalent to that of next 13 navies combined, 11 of which belong to U.S. allies.

Most of the time we patrol waters that directly benefit foreign economic competitors, and foot the bill for them, while borrowing money from them to do so. They gladly thanks us for both the protection and interest payments.

With allies capable of defending themselves, the U.S. should not plan on fighting a major land war in Europe or Asia. And there should be no more nation-building.

The U.S. should maintain superior air and naval forces, but in more realistic numbers sufficient to prevent attack on America rather than to police the rest of the planet.

A strategic realignment does not mean the end of our ability to project force abroad. No, America would continue to act as an the back up capable of aiding friendly states against a hostile power seeking control over Europe of Asia. We shouldn't always be the first in and last out. In the end, this could be more affordable and makes better strategic sense than behaving as an world wide police force determined to micromanage local conflicts.

Our days of Pax-Americana, are coming to an end just as Pax-Britannia ended after WW2. We can no longer afford to be the world police force, any more then the British Empire could after going broke trying to do so in the first half of the twentieth century. BTW just as the USSR trying to keep up with us broke them economically. Empires cannot be forever, it just costs too damn much, so we need to stop being the replacement for the British empire on the world stage. Just as they went broke trying, so in the end have we.

PS: looks like the President and US Senate have made a deal. It has passed the US Senate, vote of 89-8. Boehner has said he will give it an up or down vote, Wednesday. So your crazy free basing delusions about eatin' popcorn and watching the insanity you wanted so badly ain't gonna happen freebee.

BULL

Says who? Even Barack Obama knows better.

are coming to an end just as Pax-Britannia ended after WW2

Yup, and when England's role ended who stepped in? The Soviet Union and the United States. Who steps in after we back down? Iran, Russia and China.

Did you just finish smoking meth when you wrote that or did you really just not think this scenario through.

looks like the President and US Senate have made a deal.

Yeah, Giant Vagina and Uber Douche - my names for John Boehner and Mitch McConnell - are wimps. Its true, they have no balls. I never suggested otherwise. They like being minority leaders because it means both Republicans AND Democrats have to shower them with goodies to get legislation passed.

Instead of kicking Barack Obama's ass. I so hope the GOP throws them both out of their leadership positions this year.

Ah well, the "deal" is for only two months. Here's hoping for a long drop off the fiscal cliff.

Says the clueless twit, who cannot phantom the fact Iran does not posses the natural or human resources to be a world power.

Russia does not have the ability to over come their internal problems they still have left over from their communist days, but they will try and fail again, like they did in their soviet empire days.

China is the one country on your list that has a potential, however unlike other empires they have built in very real problems they will have to over come.

1. They cannot feed themselves nor do they have the internal resources needed to step up and run the planet.

2. Unlike the British at the start of their empire run, or the US when we took over the reigns, China is already importing far too much of what they need to be able to stand any conflict over their role.

3. They also do not at this time have the imperial military forces needed to be able to dictate their will over other military powers around the planet. The exact problem that befell the Japanese in their run in the 1930-45 to control the sphere of Asia influence. Same problem that undermined Hitlers run in 39-45.

If you cannot force people to hand over resources, you need to control them, your attempts are doomed to failure even if the effort takes a few years top play out..

Which means with out being handed the reigns of power, IE like the British empire did for the US, China ain't gonna make it.

As for your pet names for the GOpers enjoy their COMPROMISING.

as for smokin' meth son,

Here's hoping for a long drop off the fiscal cliff.?

That appears to be your stitch for divining the future in your delusional dreams, like Iran is gonna take over the planet.

Or Russia, with all their internal; problems and industrial deficits they have, the only thing the Russians have going for them is the same thing Iran has, more oil then they need for internal usage right now.

The Chinese have numerous internal and growth problems, which they are not adding to trying to create an imperial sized military force to dominate the planet with.

They would instantly multiply their very real problems if they tried, and they do not seem at this time to be that stupid.

They are students of history, and can see how well that option has turned out for the British, Soviets and currently how it is dragging the US down fiscally.

But keep free basing and posting yer delusions here freebee, it is interesting to see how wrong you are again.
