Beginnings and Endings
It's fine if some people believe the planet was created within the last ten thousand years. However, I'm really nervous about letting those same people lead us into the future.

Awww come on the dark ages weren't that bad were they?
People who serve on government science committees need to actually know some things about science. There is no reason why people in the scientific community can't have faith or be believers, but if it gets to the point where the boundaries between reason and superstition become blurred, it can be problematic.
