Heartless Haley
There's just something especially nasty about conservative female politicians who lack sympathy for other women. I don't think Haley would think it was a "distraction" if she was the one being abused or raped.

You know what prevents abuse and rape better than any class? A fucking gun. Guns stop rapists dead. Also, you get the benefit of a dead rapist. So cancel that class and become a constitutional carry state.
Problem fucking solved... at least if you have the sense to carry the damn gun. If you don't carry and your a woman, I won't say its your fault you were a rape victim but damn... trusting your personal safety to A: The rapists of the world, and B: Your physical prowess to defeat a man who likely has the jump on you is what it is. NOT A GOOD STRATEGY.
So instead of some stupid program, lets just require everyone to buy a gun and carry it. Hey, we require you to buy insurance simply for breathing because it's the responsible thing to do, why not also ask people to take some reasonable responsibility for their own safety? I like the idea of the rapists of the world having to do some profiling- "Which of these bitches is pack'n?"
Clever how you're expanding your "everybody has to buy a gun" concept.

I'll maybe get a .44... seriously, what would you recommend, Free? A guy down the street who used to be a MP says that's his choice. Although I already have a rifle, I've been considering getting a handgun. Two actually, one for my wife and one for me. I'd have to show her how to use it because she has never fired one. In fact, I might have to have someone remind me how to do it since it has been about 20 years since I last fired one! LOL
I don't think we need to worry about Nikki being the GOP vice presidential choice, there is too much concern about allegations that she has had affairs.
Free, why mandate that everyone has to own a gun? You guys on the right are into the Darwinism thing, right? Survival of the fittest? So why do you want a bunch of liberals to survive because they have guns? ;-) Maybe better to just let the liberals get wasted because they couldn't defend themselves? 8-) Everybody has to buy a gun? LOL! You CAN'T be serious...
I have some thinking to do on the guns issue... I own one, might get another. Not sure it's necessarily a bad thing, either... because I consider myself a responsible gun owner. I guess what I don't like is when it's legal for people to be better armed than their local police force... but then again, to quote Firesign Theatre (hippies that they were)...

Sorry to derail the thread. I think Nikki is allowing herself to be a tool. I know she's a 'tea party' darling and has her ideological convictions and all, but it seems she might be more sensitive about some things.
I've got a couple hunting rifles my dad left me. That should fill the bill, I think.

Email me at free0352@yahoo.com and I can help you pick out the fire arm that is right for you, tell you how to get a concealed pistol license in your state and point you in the right direction to get professional training in your state, which if you want to be a responsible gun owner (and I know you do) is critical for your own and other's safety.

I usually charge 50.00 just for that service or as part of my 150.00 basic pistol or 450.00 CCW class but I'll do that part for you for free cause I know ya ;)

Dead serious. It will invalidate overnight every anti-gun legislation in America. Hell yeah. It's not without precedent. Switzerland very famously requires it's adult males to keep and operate an ASSAULT RIFLE they pay for no less.
Not to blatantly hype myself on Jims blog... okay but to blatantly hype myself on Jim's blog- the classes I offer are-
Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle/Carbine, Basic Shotgun, CCW, Defense Inside & Outside the home, Pistol Gunfighter Level I & II, and Carbine/Pistol Gunfighter Level I & II.
Basic classes are just that, fire arm safety and basic use of the system on a target range and how to strip and maintain/clean the system along with basic home repairs. CCW is to be certified to carry a concealed pistol, specifically how to carry concealed, the laws that govern doing so, and the laws regarding use of deadly force in self defense. My gunfighter classes take this up a notch, specifically dealing with combat training. Again stressing safety, along with defensive use of fire arms at varying ranges both known and unknown, room clearing, low light/no light shooting, shooting from vehicles, shooting from baricades, use of cover, shooting on the move, multiple target engagements, surgical shooting, use of cover, hand to hand combat, 1st aid, police link-up procedures, a little offensive driving, and extracting a principle from a critical situation.
Why am I ringing this bell? Cause I'm going into business as a professional instructor when I get out and if you guys ever want a class and you're in the midwest I'll teach you guys for free. All you have to do is bring your own fire arms, your travel expenses and pay for your own targets and ammo. Why do that? If you like what I do, you'll tell your friends.
