I thought the most interesting part of the GOP
debate last night was when Romney and Gingrich
were talking about the tax on capital gains.
Newt's proposing we charge no tax on capital
gains. That means Mitt would have made 45
million bucks last year and paid no taxes on it.
Even Mitt isn't that greedy...

What's wrong with being greedy?
free - Before I can answer that I need to know what is right about being greedy.
So what you're saying Macrum is if something isn't right it must be wrong? I don't see anything wrong with it. If you earn it, you deserve it. If you want more, nothing wrong with wanting more and nothing wrong with keeping it.
Greed isn't good or bad any more than being hungry isn't good or bad.
I think the truly greedy are those who want more, but don't earn it. Those who say, I want money but don't do anything to earn it. They assume they are entitled to what other people have.
I have a right to a living wage! NO, you don't.
I have a right to insurance and health care! NO, you don't.
I have a right to own my own home! NO, you don't.
I have a right to a job! NO, you don't.
I have a right to retire when I'm old! NO, you don't.
You have to earn those things, and if you fail to earn them it's you who should live with the consequences. It's not wrong to resent supporting that kind of person, it's right to. The kind of person who thinks they are entitled to things for no other reason than they waste air is truly greedy because they want what they haven't earned. Mitt Romney is a lot of things, but he isn't a bad person because he made money.
free - you asked what is wrong with being greedy. That begged the obvious question of what you thought was right with being greedy.
Your response, though typical, does in no way answer my question. Earning and greed are completely different concepts. Being rich does not necessarily make someone greedy. Being poor and wanting better services is not in and of itself greedy. Greed exists throughout all income levels. Greed in anyone is, in my opinion, a very undesirable trait, no matter how much money they have.
So again, what is right about greed?
I would say that those who are over the top greedy usually end up on the losing end in the long run. Like it or not we are a society and when greed of one group causes too much agony in the group they co-exist with, they will have it taken away from them. A smart society will find ways to distribute enough wealth either privately or eventually it will be done publicly. Two tiered economic levels do not last forever. Whether Greed is involved or not, too much wealth in the hands of too few is historically a recipe for disaster.
That is neither good nor bad, it's just the way it is. Greed has a way of enabling scenarios like this. So I guess I see Greed as a stupid way to go.
The point I was trying to make was that even Mitt Romney believes he should have to pay some level of tax on capital gains.
