...You can take comfort knowing that the Republicans
are busy fighting to make sure the wealthy in this
country can continue "trickling down" on you.

The Super Rich...and the Rest of Us

I've been thinking a lot lately about how this country
is at an important crossroads right now...do we
continue to value the middle class or do we keep
sliding into a situation where there's just a tiny
super-rich group and the rest of us are content to
fight over the scraps that are left over? Are there
billionaires in this country who basically view you
and I as being no different than some poor soul who
spends day after day working in a third world sweat
shop?

Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Answer the Question

Saw John McCain on "Meet the Press" yesterday...when he
was asked about the status of DADT he basically said "well,
I think we probably need to study it more and then have
another commission look at it and then probably do
some more surveys and then run it up the flagpole and
see who salutes it, then convene another blue-ribbon
panel to kick the tires, then ask the opinion of every
male who's ever served in the US military, then do
some more studies and ultimately postpone any decision
until we have time to do some more surveys".
"Oh, and by the way, even though my wife is for
repealing DADT she totally supports my opinion...
whatever that might be".

A Wonderful Night

If you live in the Seattle area and you ever have a chance to
go see the Seattle Rock Orchestra perform, by all means do so.
I went last night with some friends to see them do a tribute
to Phil Spector's Wall of Sound records and they also played
every song off "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys. It was truly
amazing.
Here's a clip from their March 2010 David Bowie tribute show:

The Conversation That Never Ends

So I came home from work the other day and my wife was
watching Oprah. The actress Portia Rossi was on there
talking about her new book and her struggles with
anorexia and bulimia over the years. Oprah sat there
and sympathized with Rossi and talked about how tragic
the situation was.
I told my wife I felt like I could see a big thought
balloon hanging over Oprah's head that said what she
was really thinking..."damn, I would love to be that
skinny".

The Heart of the Matter

So here we go again...another election over and a new
political landscape for all of us to navigate through.
Here's a question...all other considerations aside,
do you think if we're at roughly 5 percent unemployment
in early November 2012...will Obama get re-elected?
Or is it just not that simple anymore?
